What to Do if Your Outlook Emails Get Stuck in the Outbox or They Send Out Slowly

If you’re having trouble sending or receiving Outlook emails, don’t worry – you’re not alone. Thousands of people experience these problems every day.

But before you panic, there are a few things you can do to try and fix the issue. In this article, we’ll walk you through some of the most common causes of email send/receive problems, as well as the steps you can take to correct them.

Try resending them again..

If you’re using Microsoft Outlook and you’re having trouble sending or receiving emails, first try refreshing it and then you can try.

First, make sure that your Send/Receive button is turned on. This button is located in the top toolbar, and if it’s not highlighted, that means it’s turned off/not working. Simply click on the button again.

Slow/interrupted internet connection

One possibility is that your internet connection is slow or temporarily unavailable. A slow or interrupted internet connection can cause issues with emails being sent and received. To check if your internet connection is the problem, try opening a website in your web browser. If the page takes a long time to load or doesn’t load at all, that could be the issue.

If you’re using a wireless connection, try moving closer to your router or modem. Interference from things like walls and large metal objects can cause signal problems.

If you’re still having trouble, you can try restarting your router. This will often fix temporary internet connection issues.

Correct account setup

Check to see if your email account is set up correctly. In Outlook, click on the File tab, and then click on Account Settings.

In the new window that pops up, double-check that your account settings are correct. If you see anything that’s incorrect, make the necessary changes and then try sending/receiving your emails again.

You may be asked to re-enter your email address, password, and other server information. This can be tricky, so it’s best to contact your email provider for help.

Delete large/old emails / attachments

If you’re still having trouble, try deleting any large or old emails that are sitting in your Inbox or Outbox. These could be causing the problem. To delete an email, simply right-click on it and select Delete.

Your antivirus software is blocking Outlook

If you’re having trouble sending or receiving emails, one thing to check is whether your antivirus software is blocking Outlook. Antivirus programs can sometimes mistakenly flag Outlook as being unsafe, which can cause problems with sending and receiving emails.

To fix this, you’ll need to add Outlook to your list of safe programs in your antivirus software. How you do this will vary depending on which program you’re using, so you’ll need to consult your software’s documentation for instructions.

Once you’ve added Outlook to your list of safe programs, restart the software and try sending and receiving emails again.

Your firewall is blocking Outlook

If you’re using a firewall, it could be blocking Outlook from sending or receiving emails. To fix this, you’ll need to allow Outlook through your firewall. How you do this will depend on which firewall you’re using.

If you’re not sure how to do this, contact your IT department or the company that supplied your firewall for help.

Your email server is down or not responding

If you can’t send or receive emails, one possibility is that your email server is down or not responding. This is especially likely if you’re seeing error messages that say something like “Cannot connect to server.”

To check if this is the case, you can try contacting your email provider. If they confirm that the server is down, there’s not much you can do except wait until it comes back up.

Restart your computer

Sometimes, all you need to do is restart your computer before the issue will be resolved. This is because restarting will clear your computer’s memory and close any programs that might be causing the problem. Once your computer has restarted, try sending/receiving your emails again.

If you’re still having trouble after trying all of the above, there may be a more serious issue at play. In this case, you’ll need to get in touch with a computer technician, who will help you fix this issue as soon as possible!
