How to Determine If TrustedInstaller.exe Is a Virus?

Check The CPU Load

To do this, you should look at several key things:

  1. Monitor your Windows hardware compatibility and performance for any changes.
  2. Keep track of suspicious files, programs, or publishers that are running on your device.
  3. Pay attention to the amount of resources being used by each process to detect any abnormalities.

Check the Actual File Location

The legitimate component of Windows is typically located in C:\windows\twain_32\Brimm15a\Common

If the file is located outside of this folder, it could be an indication that it’s malicious software. It’s important to ensure that you’re looking at the correct file before deleting it; otherwise, you may cause more harm.

Repair TrustedInstaller with SFC Scan

To do this, open the Command Prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow.

Wait for the operation to finish and then restart your computer.

The scan will check and replace any Windows system files that are corrupt, missing, or have been compromised by malicious programs such as viruses.

It also checks for compatibility issues from third-party hardware devices with Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher certificates.

1. Use sfc/scannow:

Try running the sfc/scannow command to repair any corrupted Windows system files.

This in-built tool will help you check if there are any discrepancies with the metadata of the twdsuilaunch.exe file.

2. Use Virustotal:

Click on the ‘Choose File’ button and select the twdsuilaunch.exe process.

Press ‘Confirm Upload’ and the scanning process will begin immediately.

Within minutes, any potential malware threat associated with the file will be identified.

Is TwDsUiLaunch.exe Safe? Is It Malware?

It’s generally safe, but some malicious programs can disguise themselves as TwDsUiLaunch.exe.

Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher is responsible for running the application and managing any associated hardware components.

No, Twdsuilaunch.exe is not malware and won’t harm your system. It’s an executable file related to the TOSHIBA Wireless Display Utility software. This software helps you wirelessly connect your PC with compatible TVs or projectors.

However, if Twdsuilaunch.exe appears in a different folder than the one indicated on the official website, or has a different size or signature than usual, it may be a malicious program pretending to be Twdsuilaunch.exe.

This can infect your system and steal data. In this case, you should scan your PC with a reliable antivirus program just to be sure.

Can you disable TwDsUiLaunch.exe?

  1. Press the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys together to open the Task Manager.
  2. Click on the “Startup” tab within the manager, and look for any entries related to “TwDsUiLaunch.exe” or Brother Industries Software in the list of startup processes.
  3. Highlight it, and then click on the “Disable” button located in the bottom-right corner of the window – this will stop it from launching on startup.
