Comparing head-to-head, in this case – comparing the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3d and the Core i9-12900K – both  processors have their strengths and weaknesses.

In single-threaded applications such as web browsing or video editing, the Core i9-12900K has an edge over its AMD counterpart due to its higher base and boost clocks speeds.

However, in multi-threaded applications such as video encoding or photo editing, the Ryzen 9 7950X3d takes the lead thanks to its 16 cores which allow it to process multiple tasks simultaneously with ease. In our tests and as per Cinebench; Ryzen 9 7950X is  at least 35% faster than the Core i9-12900K.

Is Ryzen 9 5900X better than i9 10900K?

Yes! We compared Ryzen 9 5900X and Intel Core i9 10900K in single-core and multi-core Cinebench tests. In single-core tests, Ryzen 9 5900X scored 162 FPS while Intel Core i9 10900K scored 167 FPS—a difference of 5 FPS in favor of Intel Core i9 10900K.

However, when testing in multi-core mode, Ryzen 9 5900X outperformed Intel Core i9 10900K significantly with 1519 FPS compared to 1311 FPS from Intel Core i9 10900K—a difference of 208 FPS!

The Ryzen 9 5900X was about 35%  faster than the Core i9-10900K in the multi-core tests!

This shows that while Intel Core i9 10900K may have slightly better single core performance, it lags behind Ryzen 9 5900X in multi-core tests due to its fewer cores/threads.

Is the i9 12900K better than Ryzen 9 5900X?

We’ll start by looking at single core performance. On the Intel side, the i9 12900K scored an impressive 538 points on Cinebench R15.

This score puts it ahead of all other Intel 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th Gen CPUs. On the AMD side, the Ryzen 9 5900X scored 751 points on Cinebench R15—which is more than 200 points higher than what its predecessor (the Ryzen 7 3800X) was able to achieve.

Next let’s compare multi-core performance.

On this front, the Intel i9 12900K scored 4136 points on Cinebench R15—which is lower than what its predecessor (the i7 10700K) was able to achieve. However, the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X scored an impressive 8187 points on Cinebench R15.
