The primary role of internet connection technicians is the installation, configuration, and maintenance of communication devices such as routers, switches, lines, cables, and firewalls that are part of the communication infrastructure within a company. They must install & maintain voice communication systems by working with local area network (LAN) equipment which enables data sharing across all departments in an organization. They also inspect the equipment for wear & tear so it runs properly.
They provide first-level support to users on their technical issues where they use troubleshooting techniques to resolve these problems. Internet connection technicians set up new users’ computers & configure them with necessary software applications to allow access for online activities like sending emails.. They connect & test internet connectivity to various networks & ensure data transfer between network devices at specific times. This involves following standard configuration procedures by connecting cables, power cords, switches, and routers to provide a path for communication among computer servers or users via cable media such as wired LANs and wireless WANs. They must carefully place the correct type of RJ-45 plugs on each end of a cable to establish a connection with other cables that are already connected to the same device. Their work is highly demanding as they have to work in harsh weather conditions, travel to locations that may be difficult to reach because of their location which makes them susceptible to injuries from accidents while traveling.
