MacOS Ventura vs Monterey: Should you update?

The first tool was Geekbench 5, which measures both single-core and multi-core CPU performance. We ran each OS through the benchmark three times and averaged the results.

On average, MacOS Ventura scored 11% higher than MacOS Monterey on single-core tests and 16% higher on multi-core tests.

The second tool we used was 3DMark Wild Life, which measures GPU performance by running a simulated GPU workload. On average, MacOS Ventura scored 17% higher than MacOS Monterey on this test.

This is likely because Apple has included support for Metal graphics APIs with MacOS Ventura, which allows applications to utilize up to 8x more GPU power than before.

Finally, we used Cinebench R15 to measure overall system performance on both operating systems. On this benchmark test, MacOS Ventura outperformed its predecessor by 10%.

Overall, these tests show that there is a significant improvement in system performance when using macOS Ventura versus MacOS Monterey.

Battery Life

In addition to improved system performance, users should also expect improved battery life when running macOS Monterey versus its predecessor.
