We just put together the setups of two dreams! Our first client got Intel’s 13900K, the newest and most powerful processor on offer. For our second customer, we made sure to include one of Intel’s 12th Gen kings – 12900K.
Now, don’t get me wrong – the Intel i9 13900K is an impressive refinement of the 12900K that comes with a few extra cores, but it’s worth it! Don’t be fooled by its slightly lower base clock of 3.0Ghz compared to its Alder lake counterpart with a base clock of 3.2Ghz – it boasts 24 cores vs only 16 in the 12th Gen alternative! And that’s not it – step up to the 13900K and you’ll get a serious boost in performance with its 5.8Ghz clock speed, leaving the 12900K lagging at only 5.2Ghz!
It’s not all performance in the 24 cores in the 13900K – it is divided into 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores, but don’t let that fool you – every core counts 🙂
The 13900K was quite the powerhouse during our comparison! It obliterated the 12900K in multithreaded applications such as Handbrake and Cinebench R23 by up to an impressive 50%. Sure enough, its combination of added cores and higher frequencies earned it top marks on the latter; with a 47% boost over the 12900K – how amazing is that?!!
Now, in all fairness, the 12900K is a generation behind and has a lower turbo TDP of 241W compared to its 13th Gen successor having a TDP of 253W.
