Does My Motherboard Have Bluetooth- Let’s see how to check it!
Most would love Bluetooth enabled on their motherboards but not all motherboards come with such technology.
As per our experience, only the most high-end motherboards come with built-in Bluetooth connectivity.
I’ll explain how to determine if your motherboard has Bluetooth and what you can do if it doesn’t.
Check Device Manager
The best place to start is with your device manager.
Device manager is an application included with most Microsoft Windows operating systems that allows users to view and manage their hardware devices.
To do this, open the Start menu by pressing the Windows button on your keyboard or clicking the Start icon in the lower-left corner of your screen.
Once you have opened the Start menu, type “Device Manager” into the search bar and click on it when it appears as a suggested result.
This will open up a window that contains all of your connected hardware devices – if it lists a device under Bluetooth – you are in luck!
Checking for a Built-in Bluetooth module
The first step is to check for built-in Bluetooth on your motherboard. To do this, you’ll need to open up the case of your computer and take a look at the circuit board inside.
Look for any connectors that are labeled “Bluetooth” or have a small antenna icon next to them.
If you see either of these indicators, then congratulations! You have built-in Bluetooth on your motherboard.
If you don’t see anything like this, don’t despair; there are still other options available to you. For example, many motherboards come with USB ports, and some of them may be Bluetooth-enabled.
Again, look for any labeling that indicates that the port is Bluetooth compatible and double-check the documentation that came with your motherboard before assuming that it does not have Bluetooth support.
Adding an External Adapter
If neither of the above methods shows that you have built-in Bluetooth functionality on your motherboard, then don’t worry— you can always add an external adapter instead!
All you need is an available USB port and an external Bluetooth adapter (they’re usually pretty affordable).
Plug the adapter into one of your available USB ports and then start up the drivers from the included CD or download them from the manufacturer’s website.
Once everything is installed correctly, restart your computer and you should now have a working Bluetooth connection!

Advantages of Built-in Bluetooth Motherboards
There are several advantages to having Bluetooth built into your motherboard.
The first is convenience; instead of having to purchase an external device or adapter to enable Bluetooth functionality in your PC, it’s already there from the factory.
This means you can get up and running with compatible devices much faster than if you had to go out and buy an additional product just for this purpose.
Additionally, by having Bluetooth already installed on your motherboard, you don’t need to worry about compatibility issues between your board and any external Bluetooth devices you might want to use later on down the line.
This saves time and money that would otherwise be spent troubleshooting these issues.
Disadvantages of Built-in Bluetooth Motherboards
Of course, there are also some drawbacks to consider when looking at motherboards with built-in Bluetooth capabilities.
First off, they tend to cost more than their non-Bluetooth counterparts due to the added cost associated with integrating this technology into the board itself.
Bluetooth version issues
Second, not all motherboards come with support for all versions of Bluetooth; so if you plan on using newer Bluetooth devices that require newer versions of Bluetooth than what is supported by your motherboard then you’ll need an upgrade or alternative solution anyway – thus negating any convenience gains from having the Bluetooth already integrated into the first place!
Even if the version of Bluetooth supported by your motherboard IS sufficient enough for your needs now; keep in mind that new versions come out often which could mean compatibility problems in the future if left unchecked (though firmware updates should help mitigate this).
Latest Bluetooth version available on motherboards today
Bluetooth 5.2 is the latest version which was released in 2019 and is an upgrade from earlier versions, such as 4.0 and 5.0, that are still widely used today.
The main difference between these versions is that Bluetooth 5.2 offers enhanced low-energy data transmission rates and improved range compared to its predecessors.
This means that you can connect your devices from further away than ever before, without sacrificing the speed or quality of the connection.
Does my Mac motherboard have built-in Bluetooth?
The first step is to identify which model of Mac you have.
You can do this by clicking on the Apple menu in the upper left corner of your screen and selecting “About This Mac” from the drop-down menu.
Head over to Apple’s support page and search for your specific model number. Once you find the page for your Mac, look for a section that lists all of its features.
This feature list should tell you whether or not your device includes Bluetooth technology. If it doesn’t include Bluetooth as a feature, then unfortunately your Mac does not have built-in Bluetooth functionality.
If that is the case, don’t worry – there are still other options available!
As mentioned above, external USB dongles are available which will allow you to use Bluetooth with your Mac even if it does not have built-in support for it.
These devices plug into one of your USB ports and allow you to connect wireless peripherals such as keyboards and mice using Bluetooth technology.
